What I Offer

Proofreading

Proofreading is the final part of the editing process, in which I will review the proof version of your manuscript for any typos, punctuation errors, misspellings, and other grammatical errors. I use the Chicago Manual of Style to help you achieve a consistent and refined style throughout.

This involves two readthroughs and edits of the proof version of your manuscript and a report on my edits.

My turnaround time for proofreading is generally 4-6 days, though this may be longer depending on manuscript length.

Copy and Line Editing

During the copyediting process, in addition to fixing any grammatical errors or typos, I will also look for inconsistencies in the writing, repetitive words or phrases, and ways to improve readability.

During the line editing process, I will look at proper sentence structure, clarity, and flow of writing.

This involves three readthroughs and edits and a report on my edits.

My turnaround time for copy and line edits is usually 7-12 days, though this may be longer depending on manuscript length.

Developmental Editing

As your editor, I will work with you during the drafting process to support you and your overall story. I will look at things like plot structure, overall coherence, continuity, character development, and pacing.

This process will involve multiple rounds of readthroughs and edits as needed.

The turnaround time for developmental edits will depend on the needs of each individual manuscript. Because of that, we will agree upon a deadline for developmental edits based on your timeline.

What does my editing process look like?

For each of my services, I offer a complimentary 2,000 word sample edit so you can decide if my process is for you! I prefer to work within Google Docs for ease of editing and leaving commentary for you to review, but if this is not an option for you I am open to using other platforms. I want this to be a supportive and collaborative experience, and will work with you throughout multiple rounds of editing to accomplish a polished final product.

What does my payment process look like?

I accept payment via PayPal or Zelle. Once you’re booked in my editing schedule, I will send over a contract agreement reiterating the services I will be providing, which will also include specific instructions on how to provide payment. 50% of the payment amount is due upon contract signing as a deposit, and the other 50% is due upon completion of the services outlined in the contract.
